CONFIRMATION FORMATION EXPECTATIONS
All 7th & 8th grade Candidates are expected to attend either Family Faith Formation Sessions at St. Patrick Parish on Sunday evenings, twice a month, as per our Middle School Faith Formation Calendar, or York Catholic School for Confirmation Catechesis; and to attend Mass every Saturday evening or Sunday, as well as holy days of obligation.
All 8th Grade Confirmation parents - need to register their children for reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation - by Oct. 7, 2024 - Click for Registration.
All 8th Grade Confirmation parents – whose children attend York Catholic or Other Schools are expected to attend two Confirmation Parent & Student Sessions:
All 8th grade candidates will write the Bishop of Harrisburg and the Pastor on why they wish to be confirmed, answering all questions contained in the letter sample prompts. Due March 2, 2024- Click for Bishop Letter
All 8th grade candidates - from York Catholic & Public Schools – are expected to attend the Confirmation Retreat at St. Patrick Church, beginning in Brenner Hall, Sat. March 2, 2024, 11:00am – 5:30pm (to include joining parents at the 4:30pm Mass for the Rite of Enrollment)
All 8th grade candidates and at least one parent – from York Catholic and Other Schools – are expected to attend together either the Opening of the Parish 40 Hours Sun. Mar. 17, 2024, at 11am Mass or the Closing of Parish 40 Hours Tues. Mar. 19, 2024, 7:00pm.
All 8th grade candidates and sponsors complete the Candidate & Sponsor Conversations: by March 25, 2025. - Click for Conversation Guide
All 8th grade candidates will complete a total of 6 service projects (2 for church, 2 for community, 2 for family). Service reflection forms are due to the Faith Formation Office by March 25, 2025. School service hours can count toward Confirmation Service projects, but candidates must submit a Confirmation service reflection sheet for each submitted project. Click for Service Form
All 8th grade candidates, prior to confirmation, will be interviewed by the Parish Clergy to determine readiness for the Sacrament, date(s) TBA.
