Our Parish Symbol
This week I share with you the image that I’m talking about during the homily this weekend. It’s very clear to me that this image was designed by the Holy Spirit, and that the members of our Parish Pastoral Council listened to and followed the promptings of the Spirit as this image came together. You are going to begin seeing it EVERYWHERE to help our parish continue to focus on who we are, what we do, and how we live our Catholic Faith.
Although I’ll talk about this in the homily, it is good to have a written version of what I shared. The Council begin talking about our parish mission and vision—particularly our mission and vision statements.
A Vision Statement describes a desired end-state. A Mission Statement describes what we do to get there.
As the Council prayed and talked and discussed, it because clear that our parish vision is: “Partnering on the Journey to Salvation.”
From there we started throwing around words that might help us describe how we get there. As the Spirit guided us, it became clear to us that our mission is: “Discover, Follow, Share, Celebrate, Teach, and Live CHRIST.”
We must each discover who Christ is for us, learn to follow Him, and share what we have learned. We must also Celebrate what we believe, teach our Faith to others, and live our Faith in our daily lives. But it all must come from and lead to Christ. This discussion is what lead to the image that you see here. Again, you’re going to be seeing it everywhere around the parish to help remind us of our mission and our vision.
